General Info

Tucked right in the heart of Guildford, Piattini Kitchen & Cocktails feels like the kind of Italian restaurant you stumble upon once and then keep returning to. The location on The Shambles, just off the High Street, makes it an easy stop whether you’re wandering through town or planning a relaxed evening dinner.

From the moment I stepped inside, the place had the easygoing charm that good Italian dining spots often carry. Nothing overly formal, yet the atmosphere still feels polished enough for a proper dinner out. The bar onsite adds a lively touch, especially if you arrive a little early and want to ease into the evening with a drink before exploring the menu.

Speaking of the menu, the standout highlight here is the Margarita. It’s the kind of dish that captures the spirit of Italian cooking-simple, balanced, and satisfying. The flavors come together in a way that feels comforting without being heavy. It’s easy to see why many reviews mention it when people talk about their experience at Piattini Kitchen & Cocktails. Sometimes the simplest options on a menu turn out to be the most memorable, and this one definitely fits that description.

Dinner service here is relaxed but attentive. The table service strikes a nice balance between professional and friendly, which makes the whole meal feel smooth and unhurried. Staff are present when you need them, yet they never make you feel rushed. It’s the kind of pacing that encourages you to linger over your meal, maybe pairing your dish with a glass from the wine selection.

Wine plays a noticeable role in the dining experience. Whether you’re someone who enjoys a casual glass with dinner or prefers to explore different pairings, the availability of wine alongside Italian dishes feels perfectly natural. The bar area also adds flexibility-you can settle in for a drink or enjoy a full meal at a table.

Another small but welcome detail is how convenient the payment process is. NFC mobile payments are accepted, which makes settling the bill quick and easy-especially helpful if you’re dining with friends and splitting costs.

Overall, Piattini Kitchen & Cocktails stands out as a comfortable Italian dining spot in Guildford. Between the inviting location, reliable table service, and a menu that includes memorable options like the Margarita, it’s easy to understand why diners keep adding their own positive reviews after visiting. The combination of good food, wine, and a relaxed setting makes it a place where dinner naturally turns into an enjoyable evening.

What customers say?

“ I visited this place with friends I hadn't seen for a while. Jason served us some cocktails before we realised he was a mixologist extraordinaire... Special mention to the spicy margarita... Honestly the most well balanced cocktail I've ever had... Old fashioned excellent, and if you ever want to have a better "long island ice tea" their expression is a "piattini ocean". Cocktails shouldn't taste of alcohol, just a hero flavour, and Jason is a MASTER at this. We had complimentary bruschette with nduja that quite simply blew us away. The friendliness, the other diners expressing thier joy at visiting, fantastic. Highly, highly recommend. ”

“ Delicious food and tasty cocktails. We booked for dinner here and it was easy to get to, enjoyed the ambience as the mood was right enough to listen to the in-house noise or hold a conversation. Our waitress was great in responding to our queries. ”

“ We dropped in without a booking and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Really friendly, kind and professional staff. While we only popped in for a drink, the smells from the kitchen and passing beautifully presented food were too much. So we ordered 6 items from the tapas menu. All were excellent, but highly recommend the goats cheese and also the prawns. Fantastic impromptu evening, looking forward to going back for the full dining experience. Thank you to all the staff for being so welcoming and chef for the beautiful food. ”

“ First visit of this Italian restaurant with bar at the cul-de-sac in Guildford Town Centre. Cordially welcomed by Tom to the Main Dining Room, we enjoyed a quiet and warm dinner served by both Jason and Tom. We were surprised to receive a Panzerotti before our ordered dishes came! The Piattini (Classical Bruschetta, Garlic & Chilli seared Prawns), Prosciutto & Rocket Pizza and Mushroom+ Spinach Gnocchi were beautifully presented and delicious. Completed with a lovely Tiramisu for our peaceful dine-out in Guildford. Definitely one of the ideal places for Italian cuisine. ”

“ Piattini’s is the definition of a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet side street off the Guildford Highstreet right next to The Townhouse. Interior was lovely - modern but romantically lit with table candle lights. My other half and I were warmly welcomed by Brian, a gracious and friendly server. Cocktails and drinks were perfect, made by a lovely bartender whose name I can’t remember (sorry!!). The menu is beautifully written and it was a challenge to decide what dishes to order as they all sounded greatly appealing. We landed on the 6 plate tapas, priced at £40 (worth every penny). The food was generously seasoned and each plate had a rich depth of flavour. We could not fault a single bite. Incredibly moreish! In the end we bought a second round of truffle fries to go. Despite us being the last table, the kitchen were generous to accommodate this. Thank you for our wonderful experience - we will be raving about this restaurant for days to friends and family! Most definitely will have to come back. ”
